ABOUT US
Abakhi Developments (Pty) LTD (Abakhi) was formed specifically to offer expect services in the provision of infrastructure services, particularly in the process of Precinct Development. Abakhi believes that an integrated approach is required when providing infrastructure for developing precincts. The development of precinct for settling people (Human Settlement) does not only involve the construction of houses and basic services (electricity, water, etc.), it has to consider existence or need to provide other enabling infrastructure services such as:
- Roads and transportation infrastructure;
- Socio economic infrastructure such as educational facilities, healthcare facilities and other government facilities;
- Private business infrastructure;
- Public spaces
- Sports and recreational facilities
Our precinct development approach is based on the experiences that the directors and shareholders have in the process of developing precincts. It is largely influenced by the belief that all developments should be people driven, and that developments should be aimed at integrating people, the environment and the technology.
Abakhi is a 100% black owned and managed company with a BBBEE Level 1 Certification.

Vuyisile Sitwayi
Vuyisile Sitwayi is a founding member and director at Abakhi. He has been involved in various mega projects and with over 15years of experience, has become honed in strategic management.
His vast experience and sound knowledge of the built industry is supported by a BSc (Quantity Surveying) degree from the University of Cape Town, Property Development as well as Advanced Project Management qualifications from the UCT Graduate School of Business. He also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Business Administration from University of Liverpool (UK) and numerous others. Vuyisile is currently completing his Master’s in Business Administration with the University of Reading’s Henley Business School (UK).
He has grown to be highly experienced in business development, strategic management and direction. This has seen him conclude on a number of new business ventures and consortiums. Prior to being founding member and director at Bukhosi, he was in the employ of companies/institutions such as Heeger Ngewu Voss Quantity Surveyors, Barrow Projects, Eskom, Gauteng Department of Public Transport Roads & Works, Gauteng department of Housing and Johannesburg Development Agency where occupied positions varying from Junior Quantity Surveyor to Chief Director and Senior Development Manager.
He is professionally registered in terms of both the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession as a Professional Quantity Surveyor (PrQS) and the South African Council for the Construction and Project Management Professions as a Professional Construction Project Manager (PrCPM).
He has been involved in various multi-million rand mega projects that include Carlton Centre Office Upgrade, Conversion of Landrost Hotel, Fedsure Healthcare Head Office, Pick ‘n Pay Regional Head Office, the NASREC Precinct Upgrade, Gauteng Housing PRTs where his roles included overall coordination, strategic management, stakeholder management, development management, planning, design and implementation. Further to that, has also been involved in overall coordination, project and construction management of various housing projects from low-cost housing to middle income housing.

Ngcebo Nkwanyana
Ngcebo Nkwanyana is a founding member and director at Abakhi with over 15yrs experience in the built industry. Having pursued a ND (S4): Civil Engineering at Natal Technikon; further obtained a Diploma in Project Management through Varsity College. He also holds an Advance Diploma as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Project & Programme Management from Cranefield College.
Currently a registered Associate Member with the South African Institute of Civil Engineers (AM: SAICE), also a registered Professional Member with the Project Management Institute of South Africa (PM: PMSA); he is the process of registering as a Project Management Professional (PMP).
He has been involved in very large projects that include the construction of various roads projects including a portion of the N2 Toll Road, the Durban Airport Gateway Interchange. Senior Project Manager responsible for the roll-out of various water and sanitation initiatives for the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry (D.W.A.F.) in the provinces of the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal and Senior Programme Managers responsible for the oversight and programme management of the Repair and Maintenance Programme (R.A.M.P.) on behalf of the Department of Public Works, Gauteng. Development Manager at the Johannesburg Development Agency primarily responsible for the planning, design coordination and infrastructure roll-out of the Rea Vaya Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) on behalf of the City of Johannesburg: Transportation Department and other public transport facilities. Through his involvement as a member of a PRT, has also been involved in packaging, project and construction management of various housing projects from low-cost housing to middle income housing.

Vincent Letshwiti
A founding member and director of Abakhi, Vincent Letshwiti is a civil engineer with 10 years of experience specializing in the field of traffic and transportation engineering. Vincent is a well-rounded professional with a background in the consulting, research and public sector environments. He is a Registered Engineer (Civil) with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
He holds a BSc Civil Engineering Degree from the University of Cape Town, a Post Graduate Diploma in Transport Management from former RAU (now University of Johannesburg) and an Honours degree in Transportation Engineering from the University of Pretoria.
During his tenure at the CSIR he was been involved in the drafting of the South African Strategic Road Infrastructure Framework as well as the drafting of the South African National Rural Transport and Development Framework. He was also instrumental in the National roll-out of the National Land Transport Act of 2000 plans to various local municipalities nationwide.
Vincent has participated in several key projects including the design and implementation of the first Bus Rapid Transit corridor infrastructure for the City of Johannesburg, Gautrain Sandton Station Taxi Rank and preliminary design of the Inner City Distribution System for the City of Johannesburg, the design of Brakpan Intermodal Facility and addendum to the preliminary design of K16 Midrand. He was also responsible for managing the implementation of the City of Johannesburg’s Strategic Public Transport Network (SPTN).
